The organic manure is applied for its cultivation and to maintain the taste and smell of the rice. Chinnor rice has a specialty in that it has a specific aroma even when it is uncooked and has a delightful taste. The aroma grows when it is cooked. SWOT Analysis

Strength:

Geographical Indication product has huge potential in Exports. GI product has its own strength of branding and marketing. Since it is an agro product, there in no problem from supply side.

Weakness:

The product has no specific HS code, so domestic turnover or export data is not available. Chinnor rice growing region is relatively far from the port so there are logistic challenges. The product has not developed its international market yet.

Opportunities:

Due to increased e-commerce and publicity of GI products, Chinnor Rice has a huge opportunity in the domestic and international markets. Farmers and processors are now equipped with export knowledge and will contribute in exports.

Threats:

  1. Agro products are subject to quality, taste and cultural aspects. If the product could not absorbed in local culture, there will no development in Exports.
